Akshay Kumar is one of the most well-known Bollywood actors in the industry. He has often proven his ability to drive mobilize large masses of people to go to the cinema for Akshay Kumar movies. Before the start of his Bollywood career, Akshay Kumar was a dancer and martial artist. He trained both of these skills during the time that he lived in Bangkok. He would also work as a waiter and other temporary jobs before he started his acting journey.

It was in 1992 when general audiences were first introduced to Akshay Kumar because of his leading role in the movie “Deedar” which was directed by Pramod Chakraborty. This was the star’s first outing which was followed by many more popular films, most notably “Khiladi” and six other films also having the word “Khiladi” in them. (Like “Sabse Bada Khiladi”, or “Main Khiladi Tu Anadi”, etc.) Since then, Akshay Kumar’s fanbase has exponentially grown.

But since going to the theatres might not be a comfortable experience for a lot of people these days, here is a compiled list of some very popular Akshay Kumar movies and where you can watch them. Considering how Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have become some of the most commonly subscribed-to streaming services, it will be very easy for fans to get their Akshay Kumar-fix, from the movies recommended below.

Rowdy Rathore

Akshay kumar movies on netflix

Rowdy Rathore is one of those doppelganger movies where one person just happens to look like another for no real reason. So there are two Akshay Kumar’s and one of them is really good while the other one is some kind of flawed anti-hero.

The anti-hero Akshay Kumar has to replace the good Akshay Kumar and hijinks ensues. I suppose if you like really typical Bollywood movies with a lot of dancing, fighting, and jokes, then Rowdy Rathore is the right kind of Akshay Kumar movie for you.

Welcome

welcome

So when I was ready with the summary that Netflix put up under the info section of this movie, they started by calling it a “silly Bollywood farce”. But I’m sure a lot of people might really enjoy this Akshay Kumar movie. I mean we all like what we like and people can have widely different tastes, so there’s no shame if mindless “comedy” is your thing.

Welcome is about two crime lords who try and get their sister married to Akshay Kumar’s character and end up in some kind of an entertaining adventure.

Special 26

special 26

This seems to be one of the better Akshay Kumar movies, from what I can tell. So this is based on a bunch of real-life events that involve Akshay Kumar and a bunch of other con artists pretend to be government officers who go around conducting illegal raids to get money from corrupt politicians and such. Considering the critic’s reviews and premise, Special 26 sounds like the kind Akshay Kumar movie that anyone will be able to enjoy. It also stars Anupam Kher who is a veteran Bollywood actor and is directed by Neeraj Pandey who is also a very well-respected director in Bollywood circles.

Naam Shabana

naam shabana

This movie is co-produced and written by Neeraj Pandey(who directed the last Akshay Kumar movie on this list). Naam Shabana is about a girl who seeks revenge for the death of her lover by joining a spy agency where, you guessed it, Akshay Kumar works. The film has been called an action-packed thriller and will be very likely to impress those who enjoyed Special 26, considering the similarities between the behind-the-screen talent as well as the presence of Akshay Kumar in one of the leading roles.

Pad Man

Akshay kumar movies

Even I know that this considered to be one of the best Akshay Kumar movies. It is about a man whose mission is to provide all women with a safe and clean, low-cost, sanitary pad. So this movie is very topical and tackles a lot of issues. That members of Indian society have when it comes to menstruation.

Pad Man does not shy away from the difficult conversation and messages that need to be put out there. And introduced to the public when it comes to the topic of menstrual hygiene. It is easily one of Akshay Kumar’s best movies and I think it is very educational.

Another reason this movie is important to watch is that it is biographical and based on the struggles of a real person who had to endure a lot of hardship to help women all across the country, and I think these types of efforts deserve to be recognized.

Good Newwz

Good Newwz is an Akhya Kumar movie release in 2019. It is about two couples who have trouble conceiving a child and decide to pursue IVF. Turns out both the couples have the same last name. And both the wives end up carrying the child of the man from the other couple.

This premise reminds me of some kind of Hallmark channel romantic comedy. Plenty of people like those (or at least their mothers do). The whole movie is about an hour and a half long so it might be worth checking out if you’re bored enough on a lazy afternoon.

Brothers

Akshay kumar movies

This Akshay Kumar movie is the Bollywood remake of the American movie “Warrior” starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton. So Akshay Kumar is the older brother who has some kind of fighting career. And he has to compete in a tournament where he will eventually fight his younger brother, who is played by Sidharth Malhotra. Brothers focus on their childhood, abusive father, and how Akshay Kumar now has a family. I’m guessing this enough drama for anyone wanting to watch the film. Family issues unfold through a series of super-toxic fights and miscommunications.

Kesari

kesari

This Akshay Kumar film is based on a true story. It is a historical film about a group of twenty-one Sikhs who fought ten thousand Afghan soldiers in the Battle of Saragarhi. Kesari takes place in 1897 and will be sure to impress all history buffs that cross its path. Kesari has a strong audience appeal and is said to be a very inspirational and patriotic tale about war.

Gold

Gold is also a historical Akshay Kumar movie based on the story of Tapan Das. The movie is set in 1948 and follows his journey as the manager of the Indian hockey team. Which is trying to win the first gold Olympic medal for India. This is said to be a very engaging sports-based historical movie. In which not only Akshay Kumar, but the whole cast shines. Gold is a must-watch for anyone wanting to educate themselves on the struggles taken by the Indian hockey team in newly post-independence India.

Baby

akshay kumar movies

Baby is the first film in the Naam Shaban series. This film focuses on Akshay Kumar’s character Ajay running a spy operation in order to stop a terrorist threat. Just like Naam Shabana, Baby also features Taapsee Pannu and is directed by Neeraj Pandey. Baby has generated a very strong audience and critics review. And will make for a very good Akshay Kumar movie. Specifically in the spy, thriller genre.

Jolly LLB 2

Jolly LLB 2 is about Jagdish Mishra (played by Akshay Kumar), a lawyer, who tricks a woman into starting his own law firm. After the woman he conned commits suicide. The lawyer must not come to terms with his actions. While fighting one of the toughest cases of his career in order to gain justice. This film stars Akshay Kumar, Huma Quereshi, and Annu Kapoor (among others). The film has gained high praise and serves as a courtroom drama intertwined with comedic elements.

Garam Masala

garam masala

This is supposed to one of Akshay Kumar’s best comedy movies. It also stars John Abraham as the second lead. Garam Masala is about two friends Mac and Sam (Akshay Kumar and John Abraham respectively). The main premise revolves around Mac trying to be in a relationship with three women simultaneously. Without any of them finding out. Mac’s friend Sam tries to help him maintain this. And the whole movie is about the antics and hurdles. These characters have to perform/overcome in order to ensure that the three women don’t discover that they’re being cheated on.
