Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Season 1
The first season revolves around Sabrina and her signing her name in the Book of the Beast. Her aunts, Zelda and Hilda who also keep a secret from her, that she was offered to the Dark Lord right after her birth, persuade Sabrina to sign her name on her Dark Baptism at her sixteenth birthday.
But just at the last minute, Sabrina refuses to do so, realizing that even though she would be blessed with powers from the Dark Lord, her freedom will be under Lucifer’s control, when he summons, whatever he asks for should be accomplished by the witches and the warlocks.
The whole season then goes around how Sabrina gets herself into the Academy of unseen arts, learning and practicing witchcraft. Madame Satan, who is a mentor to Sabrina in the form of Ms. Wardwell, is always persuading or cunningly exhibiting certain methods as solutions to her problems.
Most of the problems Sabrina comes across are the coven’s outdated traditions, cannibalism, and patriarchy even in the Satanic world as well! Little does Sabrina realize that Ms. Wardwell is just doing the work of the Dark Lord for the prophecy to come true.
In the final episodes when the town is under the attack of the Greendale thirteen, Sabrina has no choice but to sign the Book of Beast to gain powers to save her town and friends.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Season 2
Sabrina who is now attending both the Academy of the Unseen Arts and the Baxter High deals with her life being a half-mortal and half-witch. Each episode follows a particular incident or theory which slowly eases us into the world of witchcraft, all the time keeping the story connected with each other for the long run.
As Sabrina unknowingly finishes each task required to fulfill the prophecy, the Dark Lord returns in the flesh form of Lucifer Morningstar. As much as the story involves fictional attributes and features, a wide number of modern issues have also been addressed by the creators.
Susie identifying herself as a boy and opens up to her friends and school to address her as Theo. The Judas Society which is led by Father Blackwood, an all men-only society that does not welcome or invites women into it. The Top Boy of the Academy only being a male individual all these years, and everybody rebuking Sabrina on her desire to be the Top Boy (Just the fact that the post is named as Top ‘Boy’!)
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Season 3
Season three follows the Pagans coming to Greendale and setting up to bring the oldest of the Pagan Gods back -the Green Man. Hilda struggles with the depleted number of the Coven, and Sabrina’s throne of Hell is challenged by Caliban, the Clay Prince of Hell.
Season three undergoes a change from the previous two seasons which were more focused on Sabrina’s journey of mastering witchcraft, and now that she is the Queen of Hell, well she’s bound to chill someone’s blood. The challenge against Caliban puts Sabrina into her tests to find the Three Unholy Regalia, which decides her fate on the Throne.
Later on, future Sabrina uses the Unholy Regalia itself to go back in time and to save her friends, family, and the whole world of the apocalypse.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: What to expect from season 4?
We are all set for the final season. The third season ends with a major complexity though on the happy end but still leaves enough room and suspense for the next part. Sabrina has now fabricated the time loop and created a time paradox by having two of herself exist in the same dimension.
And it does not take much time for us to realize the after-effects of Sabrina’s doing as the time egg and the Blackwood cousins were left unguarded, for Father Blackwood to uncomplicatedly take for and in the final scene we catch sight of Blackwood unleashing the Eldritch Terrors. Season four is all set to test Sabrina and her coven with the terrors.
The main facet would be “two” Sabrinas!, it would definitely be a decisive aspect for the finale of the season.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: What it holds to offer?
For someone who is illiterate about the dark side of the world, the Satanic worshipping, witchcraft, and the magical world, Sabrina will take you on a journey of the watch and learn. It provides references from all around the Dark World and the Desecrated Church. As many remarks as it makes from the Christian Bible, it can be easy to relate to facto for the people following the Bible, but again this might just turn out to be a learning experience for all.
The cinematography of all the parts up until now is highly commendable and can be expected to be at that level for the final part as well. The graphical displays of certain mythical and fictional instances are very smooth and clean. An enchanting mixture of color coordination for the varied world of witchcraft works as an appealing point to display the occult society.
It gives away such mixed vigor to a great extent. More or less what the creators could’ve worked for is to bring in or to build up more scenic locations. Given the freedom that they had with the fictional story and the demand of the plot to show hell and earth, they could’ve built a much better environment.
Whatever the occasion for the Coven or the Academy, everything takes place at the Desecrated Church. Worship at the church, and execution? at the church, school magic event? at the church, the witches need a place to sleep; you guessed it, at the church!
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Conclusion
All in all, ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ will provide its fair share of scares and laughs. It does not have proper horror sequences but could indulge you in a few jumps. Certain scenes include some graphic content that might be disturbing to watch.
Season four of the ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ drops on the 31st of December 2020 on Netflix. Hopefully, this would be a good end to a hell of a year!
