Lalbazar web series Review –
With tons of web series releasing every week it is getting harder and harder for web series to grab audience attention. And that is why makers are trying to do things differently in order to get attention. Makers of LaLBazar did the same thing by getting Ajay Devgan to lend his voice to the Lalbazar trailer.
Lalbazar trailer with Ajay Devgan’s voice was a great move by the makers as it successfully helped the Lalbazar web series to stand out from the crowd. Maybe it was the need of the hour because it wouldn’t have been possible for Lalbazar to get such attention with its mediocre storyline.
The storyline of Lalbazar web series –
Lalbazar is the story of 5 policemen and women working in the Homosite department in Kolkata police. This team is dedicated to vanishing crime from the city and spreading joy but the death of a pregnant prostitute unveils a series of events leading to many more crimes. The storyline is basically divided into two levels, the main plot which has a larger story arc which is a murder case of a pregnant prostitute, and subplots which are small cases that are solved under one or two episodes.
The show has nothing great to offer, it’s like watching crime petrol with high production value. In fact, the storyline of Lalbazar is more predictable than crime petrol. The 10 episode show is totally boring and predictable until the 7th episode.
The show gets a little engaging in the seventh episode as the main story arc is in the focus again after six episodes of unwanted and forced subplot consisting of unrelated cases which were forced into the show. The last three episodes of the show are engaging and a lot better than the first half of the show. Although the last 3 episodes were better than the first seven it still does not make up for the bad acting and direction and mediocre storyline.
The only high point of the show is the Acting. Koushik Sen did a good job playing the lead role of Suranjan sen. Koushik looked very promising as a head commanding officer with neat dialogue delivery. Although in some scenes body language looks a bit weird which I think was the director’s fault.
Apart from Koushik, Hrishitaa Bhatt, Sauraseni Maitra, Ronjini Chakraborty, Dibyendu Bhattacharya also did a pretty good job. Overall almost everyone did a good job when it comes to acting although the director tried really hard to make it look mediocre too.
The show is totally boring, predictable, and lengthy. Although the show gets a little interesting towards the end. but you’ll lose interest in the show till then. To summarize, the only good thing about the show is good acting and nothing else.
Is LaLbazar web series good?
No, the show is not good at all. Here are the reasons
- Mediocre storyline
- Six out of ten episodes are lengthy and boring
- Predictable and boring again
- It’s literally crime petrol with high production value
