Out of Love Review –
Out of Love had five episodes each in two seasons. The first season was directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia and Aijaz Khan with episodes written by Suyash Trivedi, Abhiruchi Chand, Preeti Mamgain, Rajesh Chadha. The two seasons were shot in Coonoor, Tamil Nadu which gave the show an added bonus of picturesque backgrounds.
Out of Love can mean not being in love with one another, or it could mean the intense things people do out of love for someone. Meera’s character depicts angst and self-sabotage like no other. She is so much into the idea of a stereotypical version of what marriage is that she tries to not find reasons to unravel. Akarsh is a middle-aged man who is just like any other man, someone who is not apologetic about his desires. His character shows that you can love more than one person at the same time.
They have a child together who acts like a glue to the group trying to survive in between the toxicity of his parent’s crumbling marriage. Quite mature for his age, he understands the toll the affair takes on his mother’s mental health. The additional characters do not necessarily add substance to the series.
Season 2 of Out of Love has been directed by Oni Sen and was written by Preeti Mamgain, Eisha Chopra, and Rajesh Chadha. It shows Akarsh and Alia moving back to Coonoor after being in Delhi for nearly three years. This time, he plans to disrupt Meera’s life who is living with her son. In this season, Meera and Akarsh have seen butting heads who just cannot be in the same room and try to use their son as leverage.
This time, the son is seen in mental distress. Out of Love shows no character growth in Meera’s and Akarsh’s characters. Both of them are just shown as a couple who cannot see eye-to-eye on things and are on a mission to destroy each other’s lives with their son trying to survive in the chaos. However, the show is an interesting and engaging watch.
