Aditi Rai Hydari plays Dahini a radio jockey and her boyfriend is Gautham (Udhayanidhi Stalin) who is blind. Tahini gets kidnapped by the psychotic killer but Dahini challenges him that she visually challenged boyfriend would come for him. The deficiencies on the protagonist side and the dark and twisted plot make Psycho a wonderful watch in the list of best Tamil thriller movies.

Vishwaroopam is another thriller Tamil espionage film. The movie begins with Dr. Nirupama (played by Pooja Kumar) who is married to Vishwanath (Kamal Haasan) but doubts her husband. Vishwanath is a dance teacher but soon Nirupama discovers certain truth from his past and present which forms the crux the movie. The sequel film didn’t technically keep up the good work of the first film, but Vishwaroopam is another good watch of the Tamil thriller movies out there.

24. Onaayum Aattukkuttiyum

The movie begins with a stranger who is shot, is by the side of the road and Chandru (played by Sreeram) a medical student goes over to help him. He tries to get medical help but to no avail. In the end, he takes the stranger to his house and performs surgery on him, and saves his life.

But later on Chandru and his family land in trouble because the stranger was none other than a criminal called The Wolf who was on the run from the police. Soon the police have Chandru on to catch the Wolf as he is able to establish contact with him. Onaayum Aattukkuttiyum is a dark tale of chase and hunt and a must-watch for all devotees of Tamil thriller movies.

25. U-Turn

Samantha plays the character of Rachna who is an intern at a major newspaper. Along with Aditya (Rahul Ravindran) she works on an article piece revolving certain incidents at a flyover. She soon discovers that a couple of regular motorists move the concrete blocks that divide the road in order to take a ‘u-turn’ and those misplaced blocks have been causing lot of accidents of late. But everything takes a twist before Rachna could interview the motorists as one of them gets killed and she is accused of the murder. The film is a remake of the director’s own Kannada film, but still tops our list of the best tamil thriller movies.

Karthi plays DSP Theeran Thirumaran an honest police inspector who always gave it his all. He soon faces higher forces as he investigates the illegal ventures being carried out by them.

27. Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru
